Bulgaria’s Parliament ratified the Friendship, Good Neighbourly Relations and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia on 18th of
January. The document was supported unanimously at first and second reading by the MPs.
The agreement, which was signed on 1 August 2017 by the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Macedonia, is a legally binding document between the two countries governing lasting and stable good neighbourly relations and the desire to develop cooperation between them. The Macedonian Parliament has already ratified the document.
There have been debates, even some criticism coming mostly from Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, from the left-wing opposition BSP group, Valery Zhablianov.
Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva thanked the MPs for their unanimous adoption.
