Brigadier General Emil Tonev was appointed head of National Service for Protection

President Rumen Radev on August 28 issued a decree appointing Brigadier General Emil Tonev as the head of the National Service for Protection (NSP). With a decree of the President, Tonev was also given the rank of brigadier general.

At a ceremony in the Presidency building for his appointment at the post, Brigadier General Tonev received his epaulets from the head of state and stressed that the NSP performs its tasks with honour and dignity, despite the great challenges facing the state service for protection.

The President determined the appointment of Emil Tonev as a completely natural and deserved stage in his professional career. "You are taking up the post at an important and challenging moment. But I am convinced that given your professional competence, accumulated over the years, you rich professional experience and outstanding leadership qualities, you will successfully cope with the important and responsible tasks facing the National Service for Protection, " the head of state said to the newly appointed head of the NSP.

"The expectations towards you are high. I count that you will be principled, decisive and dedicated in the implementation of this highly responsible mission ", added President Rumen Radev and wished gen. Emil Tonev good health, will and strength to reform and modernize NSP and to raise its prestige both in the country and among its foreign partners.

"I hope with your experience - professional and in life - to justify the trust I have in you. The challenges for NSP are really very big – constant shortage of funding, turnover of trained staff, changes in the law. However, the National Service for Protection performs its task with honour and dignity," 2gen. Emil Tonev said, after receiving his epaulets from the head of state.

The head of the NSP stressed that he will rely entirely on the professional experience of the management of the service, but will also rely on the loyalty and high ethics qualities of each regular employee of the service. "Only by working in a team can we meet the challenges. We need to be more prepared and raise and maintain the high level of the NSP, " said Brigadier General Emil Tonev and thanked the head of state and his team for the high honour.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President Iliana Yotova, representatives of the head of state's team and heads of structural units in the National Service for Protection.
