Bulgaria’s Parliament on July 24 approved the changes to the cabinet.
Hristo Terziyski succeeds Mladen Marinov as Minister of Interior. Kiril Ananiev succeeds Vladislav Goranov as Minister of . Lachezar Borissov succeeds Emil Karanikolov as Minister of the Economy. Prof. Kostandin Angelov succeeds Kiril anaiev as Minister of Health. Mariyana Nikolova succeeds Nikolina Angelkova as Minister of tourism and Deputy Prime Minister.
The proposed reshuffle was adopted with 116 votes in favour and 89 against.the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms did not support the changes.
During the debate the opposition socialists repeatedly asked for the Prime Minister to attend the proceedings and give the motives for the cabinet reshuffle.
Commenting on the changes, BSP said that they were an imitation and insisted on the PM’s resignation despite them.
No one from the ethnic Turkish “Movement for Rights and Freedoms” took part in the debates.
