During the past 24 hours, the ruling power has orchestrated provocations. Dozens were injured, both among the protesting members of the public and the police, President Rumen Radev said in an adrress from his office on September 3.
The attempt to push a ridiculous but status quo- friendly Constitution with the power of money and under the cover of police shields is a criminal encroachment on the future of Bulgaria.
These actions risk throwing the country into a long-term impasse, the President said.
I call on both the protesters and the police to remain calm and not allow themselves to be involved in scenarios for the survival of the government compromised by corruption and violence.
The protest is the only possible and justified civil action against the abduction of the Bulgarian democracy.
It is the duty of every Bulgarian citizen to say "No to violence, repression and lawlessness!"
The immediate and unconditional resignation of the cabinet is the only way out of the crisis, the President said.
