Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov, will attend the meeting of the liberals from "Renew Europe" on Monday in Brussels, the European liberal family confirmed to BNT on May 25. The event precedes a summit of EU leaders to be held on Monday and Tuesday in the Belgian capital.
Kiril Petkov will attend the summit as a guest.
According to the European edition "Politico", Stéphane Séjourné, the leader of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament, has been courting Petkov and his party “We Continue the Change” to become members of the European liberal family since the Bulgarian newcomer surprisingly won the election last year.
Among the European leaders - members of the European liberal family (ALDE) are French President Emmanuel Macron, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Belgian - Alexandre de Croix, as well as the prime ministers of Luxembourg, Estonia and Ireland.
A member of the liberal family from Bulgaria is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party, which currently has three MEPs and one of them, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, is acting co-chair of ALDE.
