Bulgaria and Greece will deepen their co-operation in tourism

The Bulgarian government on January 23 approved a draft Joint action programme between the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Greece in the area of tourism for 2020-2022.

The document reflects the readiness of the two countries to strengthen their friendly relations and to contribute to the further development of cooperation in the area of tourism.

They will encourage co-operation, both for the development of tourism with the greatest potential for attracting tourists and in the fields of investment, staff qualification, the creation and development of destination management organizations, the organization of joint initiatives to mark 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, international organizations in the area of tourism, etc.

Greece is one of the main tourist markets for Bulgaria. For the period January - November 2019, Greece is second in terms of the number of tourist visits of foreigners in Bulgaria, registering an increase of 5.2% compared to the same period of the previous year. Data from the National Statistical Institute show that in 2018 Greece was second among the inbound tourist markets of Bulgaria.
