Preparation of a 10-year bilateral defence plan between Bulgaria and the US began on January 7 with a meeting between Bulgaria’s Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov, US Ambassador Herro Mustafa and working groups.
The document will provide guidelines for improving security cooperation, especially in the area of defence institutions, the situational picture of the maritime space, cybersecurity and modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.
A draft roadmap will be prepared and will be reviewed in April. The final version is expected to be signed in Sofia in September.
