Bulgaria is one of the first countries in the region to introduce and use the child abduction alert system "AMBER Alert". It is a Facebook application system that allows sending an alert with information about the missing child.
The way the system works is the following: an alert is submitted to the police for a missing child, officers react as quickly as possible and decide whether the case is an abduction. If it is, the alert is sent to Facebook, with all available information, such as the child's latest outfit, weight, height, current photo, etc.
This information is distributed in the news feeds to all users of the social network that are within a radius of 200 km from the location of the abduction or disappearance.
Bulgaria is not only one of the first countries in the region, but also the 15th in the world to use the AMBER alerts.
