In 2019, Bulgaria will continue to actively promote itself as a tourist destination in the countries, from which it welcomes the largest number of tourists, but it will also promote itself on prospective markets such as China, the United States, India, Japan, Bulgaria’s Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said on 20th of July.

She participated in the meeting of the National Council of Tourism, hosted by "St.St.Konstantin and Elena" resort near Bulgaria’s coastal city of Varna. The realistic option is that in 2019 the amount of national advertising of our country will remain the same as this year - just over 13 million BGN, Angelkova said.

According to her, the ministry will work to raise the funds by about 2 million BGN. For the period January - May the increase of tourists in Bulgaria is 11.1% compared to last year, added Angelkova. She pointed out that at that time the revenues from the sector amounted to over BGN 1.6 billion, the amount having increased by about 11% compared to last year. Expectations are the increase in the number of foreign tourists during the summer season to be about 5%, the minister said.
