Bulgarian authorities have requested the European Parliament Speaker David Sassoli to lift the immunity of Elena Yoncheva, who is an MEP from the group of European Socialists and Democrats. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, Rumyana Arnaudova, on November 25.
After the lifting of the immunity of Elena Yoncheva as MEP, criminal proceedings will be initiated by the Bulgarian Specialised Prosecutor's office. It was presented to the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee, Sassoli said.
