On 2nd of February, the Bulgarian Orthodox church celebrates the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which is one of the four great Christian feasts dedicated to God's mother. It occurs forty days after the birth of Jesus, when he was presented at the temple and received and acknowledged by the righteous Simeon.
On the occasion of the feast, a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary arrived in Bulgaria’s capital of Sofia. It is a copy of the Iverian miraculous icon, which is in Sevta Gora (Holy mountain) mosnatery.
The icon will remain in the church of St. Martyr Paraskeva in Sofia for four days. It is believed that it helps the poor, incurably ill and those who want to have a child.
