Bulgarian performer in Eurovision 2020 will be announced on November 25

Bulgaria will participate in Eurovision 2020. After a year's absence from the international music contest, the country will announce its representative on November 25^th.

This became possible after the Bulgarian National Television reached a public-private partnership agreement to finance the participation. The Bulgarian representative in Rotterdam will be announced on November 25 at a joint press conference of BNT and its partners in the project. As reported by BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov, production companies from Bulgaria and the UK will be included in the Bulgarian participation of Eurovision 2020.

With the restructuring of Bulgaria’s participation in Eurovision, the focus will be on ensuring the long-term development of the performers after their participation in the competition and providing an international platform for the development of the creative industries in Bulgaria. The producers' hopes are that the new approach will find a long-term mechanism for guaranteeing the future of Bulgarian participation in Eurovision. Thus, the competition will become an opportunity to promote Bulgaria in Europe and around the world in a positive context.

The production approach chosen for the Bulgarian participation of Eurovision is a common practice in the implementation of creative projects of this type in countries such as Great Britain, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and others.

Eurovision is an international song contest that has been ongoing since 1956 in collaboration between public service broadcasters in Europe. It is broadcast by more than 50 television staions in Europe, the US, Australia, China and more, attracting an audience of more than 200 million viewers. This makes it the biggest television event in the world outside of sports. In 2019, the famous streaming platform Netflix purchased the rights to broadcast the contest in the US. The 2020 Eurovision will be held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam on May 12, 14 and 16. All competition nights, including the semi-finals and the final, will be broadcast live on BNT 1.
