Students from the Language School in the South Bulgarian city of Smolyan created a special application that recognizes harmful food additives. Installing it on a mobile phone is free-of-charge and the product is already used by thousands of users.
Venelin and Alexander have developed the mobile application in April 2017 and already have over 10,000 downloads. The application scans and reads the food label and shows the harmful ingredients.
The idea comes from the issue of healthy eating in schools, our peers eat packed foods every day - for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the boys said. The purpose of our application is to reduce their exposure to harmful ingredients and protect them by informing them about the ingredients of the food, they explained.
