A Bulgarian team is very close to finding a treatment for the coronavirus. This was announced by a briefing of the National Task Force by the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev on July 6.
A clinical trial with the medicinal product started in May, and so far 30 patients have been selected for it.
The trial is conducted in 9 hospitals throughout the country.
The director of the Executive Agency for Medicines, Bogdan Kirilov, said the drug was Ivermectin.
According to him, Bulgaria was the first country in the EU to launch a clinical trial to study the potential of the drug. After us, it started in Spain, Brazil, USA.
"We hope that at the end of the month we will have primary results from this group of 30 patients. By the end of July, the beginning of August there will be more information," added Bogdan Kirilov.
Minister Ananiev added that the desire of medical specialists is to add new hospitals and more patients to the trial.
