The Consultative Green Council in relation to the European Green Deal held its first meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to make a general presentation of the main aspects of the EC Communication and the roadmap to it, as well as the activities carried out by the executive in this area. The meeting also provided an opportunity for an initial exchange of views on topics within the scope of the Deal. This was announced by the government's press office on June 16.
One of the main tasks of the Green Council is to enable a broad public debate, to advise and assist the Council of Ministers in achieving a balance in reconciling national priorities in the area of energy security, accelerated economic development, social justice and environmental protection.
The Chair of the Green Council is the Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, and the Deputy Chair is the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova. Members of the Council include a representative of the President, representatives of the parliamentary political parties, nationally representative organizations of employers, employees, the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the President of the National Statistical Institute, representatives of the academic community, a representative of the National Association of the Municipalities in Bulgaria and members of the government.
