Bulgaria's Ombudsman: Issue with Early Retirement of Miners Will Be Resolved

The issue with the early retirement of miners who had worked in closed down mines will be solved, Bulgaria’s Ombudsperson Maya Manolova said on 8^th of January after a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Finance Minister and the Head of the National Social Security Institute.

Some 169 miners were affected as a result of legislative changes, which did not allow early retirement if the mine was closed down.

After the meeting with the government officials, Manolova said that a decision was made that the case of all miners in mines closed down in 2017 would be resolved.
