The issue with the early retirement of miners who had worked in closed down mines will be solved, Bulgaria’s Ombudsperson Maya Manolova said on 8th of January after a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Finance Minister and the Head of the National Social Security Institute.
Some 169 miners were affected as a result of legislative changes, which did not allow early retirement if the mine was closed down.
After the meeting with the government officials, Manolova said that a decision was made that the case of all miners in mines closed down in 2017 would be resolved.
