On 22nd of February, Bulgaria’s government dismissed the Chairperson of the State Agency for Refugees, Nikola Kazakov. One of the current deputies, Kircho Kirov was appointed as the acting chairperson of the agency, the government’s press office said.
Kazakov was the chairperson of the refugee agency from 2010 to 2013, under the first cabinet led by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He was fired in by the next cabinet led by PM Plamen Oresharski (2013-2014) but was reinstated as head of the refugee agency in January 2015 by the second cabinet of PM Borissov.
