The Chief of Defence, General Andrei Botsev, passed away in the late evening of February 27, the Defence Ministry said in a press release on February 28. Gotsev, 60, died after a short illness.
"With his honourable service in the Land Forces, principled attitude and firm will to solve the problems in the Armed Forces, General Botsev leaves a lasting trace in the modern Bulgarian military history," the press release says.
The Defence Ministry offered sincere condolences to Botsev's family and relatives.
