Bulgaria’s Opposition BSP, MRF to Table No-Confidence Vote on 17 January

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Movement for Rights and Freedom (MRF), the two opposition parties in Bulgaria’s Parliament, said on 13 thf of December that they would table a no-confidence vote against the government of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 17^th of January.

BSP leader Kornelia Ninova said that the reason for the motion of no-confidence would be corruption.

She said that a working group of representatives from the two parties would draft the detailed motives of the motion, which will include specific cases of corruption in various areas.

Mustafa Karadayi, Chair of the MRF Parliamentary Group said that they would try with specific facts to defend the motives of the motion.

Toma Bikov from GERB (majority partner in the ruling coalition GERB) said this would be a vote because of the vote itself. In his opinion, behind the postponement of the no-confidecne vote, there is an attempt and an official announcement for a sabotage of Bulgaria’s EU presidency.
