Bulgaria‘s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov took part in the summit of the Visegrad Group, which was held on 15th of February in Prague.
At the press conference after the meeting, PM Borissov said that the meeting met its objective to show the Council it wanted accelartion of the decision-making on the migation problem. Borissov said that the meeting was not directed against Greece or against any other EU country.
“All of us, especially by using EU Cohesion Policy, improved our countries significantly. So now we must find a solution to a common European problem,” Borissov said.
He has stressed that the position of Bulgaria, defended before the EU, is to close all external borders – not the ones inside the EU, but the external borders, so only the legal border crossing points will be left through which all migrants should go through, where their finger prints will be taken, their health status will be checked and those who meet the criteria for asylum seekers will be allowed through. The ones that do not meet the criteria should be returned.
PM Borissov was in the Czech Republic capital as a guest at a meeting of the Visegrad Group (made up of the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia), at which joint efforts for handling migration crisis in Europe was a key topic of the agenda.
