Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on September 23 inspected the progress on the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline by helicopter.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Aabed Abdulla Al-Saadoun, Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, the Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz EAD Vladimir Malinov and representatives of the contractor Arkad.
"The project is entering its final phase. All the necessary pipes for the site are available on the territory of the country and they are distributed along the route - over 474 km. Over 2,500 workers from different countries are working in the field. A really huge project. 1420 heavy construction mechanization and specialized equipment were mobilized ", Borissov announced on his official Facebook profile.
"With the implementation of Balkan Stream, Bulgaria is becoming a regional strategic gas distribution centre and guarantees diversification of gas supplies," the Prime Minister added.
