Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on July 23 invited the parties represented in Parliament for consultation before handing over the first mandate to form a government.

For the first time, one of the parties, GERB (majority partner in the former coalition government) and currently the second largest parliamentary group refused to take part in the consultations.

According to GERB-UDF, the dialogue has been repeatedly disrupted and they believe they have no place in the consultations because they have not been invited to talks with other political forces.

In addition, the coalition is of the opinion that the head of state Rumen Radev is not a unifier of the nation and has appointed a caretaker cabinet, which, according to them, "personally instructed" only their party to be slandered.

This time, all political options should be explored in order to avoid new early elections. This was one of the messages that President Rumen Radev sent to the political parties. The President called for the formation of a stable majority on which to base an effective and responsibly acting government.

The largest political goup in Parliament, "There is Such a People," assured during the consultations that they would make every effort to form a government, but stressed that they would not participate in a coalition.
