Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is travelling for a visit to Egypt on January 14. Tomorrow, January 15, he will participate in the official opening of the new Bernice naval base on the Red Sea.
During his visit, the Bulgarian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to discuss issues of common interest to both countries and topics on the international agenda.
Egypt is Bulgaria's largest trade and economic partner in the Middle East and Africa. The two countries have been maintaining active political dialogue over the years.
PM Borissov will attend the ceremony at Bernice at the personal invitation of President Assisi. The site is one of three new strategic naval bases on the Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts, the creation of which was announced by the Egyptian Armed Forces in 2017.
The delegation of Prime Minister Borissov includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Krasimir Karachakanov.
