Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov introduced changes to the arears of responsibilities of the Deputy Prime Ministers in relation to the election of Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva as Minister for Education and Science, the government’s press office announced on 22nd of February.

Deputy Prime Minister Kuneva will be assigned the coordination regarding the ministries of interior, defence, the activities of the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Surveillance, the State Agency for the Bulgarians Abroad, Nuclear Regulatory Agency. Kuneva’s area of responsibility will also include the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency, the Patent Office and the Center for Prevention and Countering Corruption and Organized Crime.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of coalition policy and state administration and Minister of Interior, Rumyana Bahcvarova, will be assigned the coordination of the bodies of the executive branch of the power in relation to the activities of the ministries of culture, health, youth and sport and the ministry of tourism. Her area of responsibility will also include the Archive State Agency, the State Agency for Refugees, The Communications Regulation Commission and the National Statistical Institute.

The Deputy Prime Minister for European Funds and Economic Policies, Tomislav Donchev, will be in charge of the coordination regarding the ministers of finance, regional development and public works, economy, energy, transport, IT and communications, agriculture and foods, and the ministry of environment and waters. He will oversee the work of the State Agency “State Reserve and War-time Stocks", Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, State Securities and Exchange Commission and The Privatization and Post-Privatization Control Agency.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Demographic and Social Policies and Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Ivaylo Kalfin, will be in charge of the State Agency for Child Protection, the National Compensation Housing Fund and the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will continue to be in charge of the coordination regarding the State Agency for National Security, State Agency “Intelligence”, State Agency “Technical Operations“ and the State Commission on Information Security.
