Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security (SANS) has ordered the expulsion of a Turkish citizen and another has been declared persona non grata as threats to national security, SANS said on 22nd of March.
The order was issued on 21st of March by the Head of SANS Dimitar Georgiev. The Turkish citizen was banned from entering the country for a period of 5 years.
He had created anti-Bulgarian attitudes in regions with mixed ethnicity population and thus endangered Bulgaria’s national unity. The citizen being expelled had resided in Bulgaria for a long time as an employee of a Turkish state institution.
Another Turkish citizen, banned from entering the country, was included in the list of undesirable persons as he was considered threat to the national security. According to data collected by SANS, during his stay in Bulgaria, he was trying to obtain information classified as a state secret. Information on his actions showed that they were directed against the unity of the nation and there were attempts to influence Bulgarian institutions for the benefit of a foreign state interest.
Last week SANS undertook administrative measures against three other Turkish citizens because of activities directed against Bulgaria’s national security.
