The businessman Petar Hristov was shot dead minutes after 10:00 on 8th of January. He was assaulted in Ralevitsa Street in Manastirski Livadi neighbourhood near the shopping center in Bulgaria Blvd in Sofia.
He is the owner of a dairy prodcuts company.
BNT sources revealed that 8 shots were fired and the businessman was hit in his back. He died on the scene. So far, the only witness of the shooting is his driver who took him to to the Military Medical Academy.
It is still unclear where it was shot and whether there were any helpers.
According to the police, the motive of the crime is most likely connected with the victim's business - which does not rule out a connection with his private life, he added.
There are more than 100 companies registered in the name of Peter Hristov. One is Lactima, which deals with dairy products. In the city of Veliko Turnov, Hrisotv was known as a big investor in the region. In 2010, he applied for becoming Chairman of the Building Chamber, but failed.
