Car of the Shooters of the Tax Officer was Found in Sofia

Bulgarian police found the car of the shooters of the 43-year old tax officer, Ivo Stamenov, in Sofia on 22^nd of December.

Currently, the area is cordoned off and the police is inspecting the car. It was found in Hadzhi Dimitar residential area in Sofia.

Ivo Stamenov, a senior official of Bulgaria’s National Revenue Agency (NRA) was shot while parking his car in the centre of Sofia in the morning on 18th of December. The 43-year-old man was shot in the right shoulder, near the chest.

Large blood vessels were affected. He was taken to the Military Medical Academy for treatment. The next day he underwent a second operation.

Ivo Stamenov is the Head of Fiscal Control Department in the revenue agency.

Speaking to media on 21^st of December following a meeting with the ministers of finance, interior, the chief prosecutor and the head of the National Revenue Agency, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that the assault on the tax official was related to his professional duties.

Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov said that the state would respond very strongly to this impudent assault.

The participants in the meeting said that the murder attempt was not just a shooting against a senior tax official but a shooting against the state and the statehood.

Minister of Interior Valentin Radev said that the authorities would reveal both the perpetrator and the one who stands behind it.

Military Medical Academy announced that Stamenov was in stable condition at the moment, but remains critical and he was fighting for his life.
