The Council of Ministers is ready to provide all necessary funds for the machine voting, Deputy Prime Minister Stefan Yanev told journalists on 2nd of February after the first meeting of a working group which deals with the organization of the upcoming parliamentary elections on March 26th.
Most likely, about 13,000 voting machines will be needed, Yanev said, but did not specify whether they would be purchased or rented.
Machine voting will be introduced in the polling stations abroad as well. Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission confirmed they help the foreign ministry with the logistics and training of the members of the electoral commissions.
Certification of the voting machines is required. If it is not possible to find a Bulgarian state authority to do it, assistance from abroad would be sought for, Yanev added.
Ministry of Interior, State Agency for National Security, the Prosecutor’s Office and other state institutions will be engaged in preventing vote-buying in the snap elections, Yanev said.
