By a decision passed on February 21, the Central Election Commission (CEC) set the conditions on funding the campaign of candidates running for MPs in the April 2 snap elections.
The election campaign will be financed with the parties' own funds, the funds of the parties participating in the coalitions and the members of the initiative committees, the funds of the registered candidates, as well as the funds donated by individuals.
The total amount of funding of a party or a coalition may not exceed BGN 3 million, and that of a initiative committee – BGN 200,000.
The election campaign of the political formations may not be funded through anonymous donations, funds from legal entities, including sole traders, foreign individuals, religious institutions or funds from foreign governments or foreign state-owned enterprises, foreign commercial companies or organisations.
