Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, Ivan Geshev, instructed the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the Directorate General of the National Police to jointly inspect the complex and major dams throughout the country.
The inspection is expected to clarify the current status of the water volume in the dams and whether there are dams which water volume is below the appropriate optimum size to ensure the provision of drinking water to citizens.
It is specified that a summary statement should be provided after each inspection for each of the dams inspected.
If during the course of the investigation data are collected on a committed crime of a general nature, the materials of the investigation will be sent to the relevant competent prosecuting authorities for their consideration.
