The percentage of positive coronavirus samples is relatively the same - between 4% and 6%. It is obvious that there is a trend of newly discovered cases, Bulgaria’s Chief State Health Inspector Associate Professor, doctor, Angel Kunchev told BNT breakfast show on July 24.
According to him, there is fatigue in the society from the restrictive anti-epidemic measures and active reluctance to observe them.
Bulgaria is heading for second or third place in Europe in terms of morbidity in Covid-19 cases, after Sweden and Portugal, he said and added that significant increase in cases was observed in the Balkan peninsula as a whole.
There was an increase in cases in younger people, Kunchev said.
"We are fully aware from the outset that we cannot stop the spread, this is impossible with an airborne infection."
That is why Kunchev emphasised that it is important not to have too many cases at a time and to protect the risk groups. An impending flu epidemic could deplete the health care system, he noted.
