The Bulgarian government on October 14 decided by a decree of the Council of Ministers to approve additional spending from the budget of the Ministry of Health in the amount of BGN 2.1 million. The amount is enough to buy 2,500 vials of Remdesivir, necessary for the Bulgarian citizens. This was announced by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov at a briefing after today's meeting.
The cost of one vial of the medicine is 345 euros without VAT, the minister specified.
So far, Bulgaria has received 2,837 vials of "Remdesivir" in the form of donations distributed to all Regional Health Inspectorates in the country. So far, 978 vials have been used.
At present, all patients in the country who needed therapeutic treatment with Remdisivir have received it and there are no needs that cannot be met at the national level.
Clinical studies have proven the effectiveness of Remdesivir, explained Minister Angelov. "Observations of its use in other countries around the world, when its application was first published, the EC took action to provide it in the amount of 300,000 vials needed for European citizens, 120,000 vials per month. So this is a drug , which is used for the treatment of patients in almost all countries in the world and all countries in the EU. " he explained.
"Cities will not be closed or intercity travel checkpoints be set up, no restrictive measures will be applied. We must get used to living with this virus and follow the measures as prescribed," the health minister explained.
