Covid-19 outbreak in Dospat: Mayor bans weddings, closes markets

The mayor of the South Bulgarian town of Dospat, Elin Radev, issued an order introducing a number of restrictions in the municipality, as of today, June 8 until June 15.

The stricter measures are in response to the new 48 COVID-19 cases as a result of tests of workers from the toy factory in Dospat.

Radev’s order points out that all kindergartens, community cultural centres, sports grounds, playgrounds, sports halls, as well as campsites in the settlements are being temporarily closed.

Wearing protective face masks in indoor and outdoor public places is compulsory.

The order also introduces a mandatory physical distance of 1.5 metres between two people in all public places - shops, pharmacies, banks, municipal administration, etc.

Maximum of two people are allowed to sit a table in drinking establishments, restaurants and others.

All mass events are also temporarily banned, including weddings, graduation balls, prayers, etc., as well as the gathering of more than two people in one place.

It is also forbidden to hold cultural events, seminars, meetings, etc.

All markets on the territory of Dospat Municipality are also closed.

The mayor appealed to all employers, owners of commercial sites and others to strictly follow the rules for disinfection.

"Wearing of protective masks and gloves by staff is mandatory," he added.
