An outbreak of Covid-19 was established by the Bulgarian Health authorities on a ship off Bulgaria’s Black Sea port of Bourgas. One of the crew mebers died.
The first patient had complaints of fatigue, cough and fever since July 7.
The "Star Genesis" ship arrived in Bourgas on the night of July 7 to load grain. A 52-year-old Filipino crew member felt unwell. He was transported by boat to the Bourgas hospital.
The remaining 19 members of the ship's crew were tested on July 15 with PCR tests. 11 of them tested positive.
A 33 year old meber of the crew is also hospitalised.
The sailors on board were placed under a 14-day quarantine.
The ship, which traveled from the United Arab Emirates, will remain in the Bourgas Bay for 14 days until the quarantine of the crew expires. The vessel was thoroughly disinfected, and RHI-Burgas explained that there was no danger of the infection being spread by the crew.
