Covid-19: Research underway to trace Grigor Dimitrov’s contacts in Haskovo

Besides Grigor Dimitrov, another tennis player from the Adria tournament has tested positive for coronavirus. This is Borna Coric, who played against Dimitrov on Saturday. The coaches of Grisho and Djokovic also tested positive.

Due to the two-day training Dimitrov had in his birthplace, the city of Haskovo (Southern Bulgaria), the task force held a meeting in the city today, June 22.

The health authorities continue to look for all persons who were in contact with the tennis player. The Regional Health Inspectorate calls on all citizens who were on the tennis courts on June 16 and 17 to contact their GPs.

Worried parents of children who had pictures taken with Grigor Dimitrov have asked for help from the health authorities.

The mayor and local officials who met with the tennis player tested negative for the coronavirus, but were placed under a 14-day quarantine.

June 12 - Belgrade. Thousands in the stands, dozens in the park in front of the screens, hugs, handshakes, autographs, selfies – that is how in the conditions of coronavirus the world tennis stars gathered at the Adria Cup tournament.

June 16 – Bulgaria’s city of Haskovo. Grigor Dimitrov trains in his hometown.

June 21 - Croatia. Grigor is ready for the second part of the Adria tournament. However, his coronavirus test was positive. He shares it on Instagram - with a thought for everyone who has been in contact with him.

Grigor Dimitrov: I want to make sure that everyone I have been in contact with during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions. I apologize for any damage I may have caused.

The Bulgarian tennis player is being treated in Monte Carlo, where his parents are. Due to Grigor's positive test, the final of the tournament in Zadar has been cancelled.
