day anti government protests grand national uprising

For the fourth time, the anti-government protest in the Triangle of Power in Sofia was held under the title “Grand National Uprising”.

Shortly after 21:30, the demonstrators marched along Tsar Osvoboditel boulevard, saying that this time they would do everything possible to pass by the old building of the National Assembly, to pray in front of St. Alexander Nevski cathedral.

This time the police did not block the access to the temple and all those who wanted to offer prayers managed to reach it. There, Father Dionysius served an improvised liturgy. From there, the protesters headed to the Eagles’ Bridge. A protester climbed the monument with the eagle statues and waved the flag above the traffic lights.

On day 87, October 3, the demands of the protesters remain unchanged: resignation of the government and the Chief Prosecutor, early elections by machine, remote and electronic voting.

From the rostrum of the protest, the main organisers of the protest from the so called "Poisonous Trio" said that these demands have already been heard by Europe and warned that it is possible that provocateurs join the ranks of the protesters tonight.

"They don't see us, they don't hear us, except so that they can cut our hair and milk us, or at least that was 86 days ago, but Europe heard and saw us. On Monday, MEPs will discuss the ongoing protests in Bulgaria," said Nikolai Hadzhiigenov from the Poisonous Trio.

The protesting mothers from “The System Kills Us” initiative said that before the start of the protest, the police checked their tents for dangerous objects.

Unlike the previous protests, declared as "Grand National Uprising", today the police said they did not have information about planned provocations.

At around 22:30 pm, protesters continued their march to the Eagles’ Bridge, where they blocked traffic.

At around 22:00, some of the protesters decided to walk around St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, while others spread out a banner on the temple's stairs, reading "Resignation".

Shortly after 21:30 p.m., protesters performed a ritual with a black candle in front of the Council of Ministers. They also brought a voodoo doll, which they pierced with needles.
