Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and leader of IMRO, Krasimir Karakachanov, on November 19 alerted the Chief Prosecutor over alleged attempts of 2 NGO’s to create Macedonian minority in Bulgaria.
The NGOs were registered in Blagoevgrad. In their statutes, the NGO’s allegedly have goals and objectives similar to the forbidden party "OMO - Ilinden - PIRIN" in Bulgaria. Among the founders of one of the organisations, there are also names from the leadership of the anti-constitutional organization in question, according to IMRO.
This prompted Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Public Order and Security, Krasimir Karakachanov, to ask the Chief Prosecutor to suspend the registration of the two NGO’s - the “Civil Society for the Protection of Basic Individual Human Rights” and the “Ancient Macedonians”. Such opportunity is available under the provisions of Art. 13 of the Non-Profit Legal Entities Act.
The NGOs have been registered in Blagoevgrad since the beginning of August. In the motives the founders have stated that they will carry out support activities in different directions of the "Macedonian minority" in the Republic of Bulgaria. The two organisations were registered for private benefit activities.
In the reasoning of the alert, Krasimir Karakachanov points out each reason for the two organisations, the main ones being dangerous similarities to the activity carried out years ago by OMO - Ilinden – PIRIN, which was banned by the Constitutional Court; dangerous propaganda activities that openly lead to separatism and minority formation processes, which is contrary to the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria.
