The Specialised Criminal Court ruled to remand eight people accused of involvement in an organised crime group for drugs distribution. They were detained on November 18 in Sofia, the Prosecutor's office said on Niovember 22.
The other seven detainees in the group were imposed baills of BGN 5,000 each on the grounds that they were not previously convicted and that they are young (born between 1991 and 1999) and that the degree of their involvement in the group was not so high.
The court found that for all 15 pre-trial defendants there was a reasonable assumption that they had committed the crimes they were charged with.
At the time of detention of the members of the group, drugs were found in each of them for sale on the black market - a total of 10.5 kg, 240,000 BGN, electronic scales, machines for cutting marijuana and numerous other evidence of their criminal activity.
The 16th participant in the group has been circulated as internationally wanted. He has been charged in absentia.
The Specialised Prosecutor's office will protest the court's ruling in its part on the bail measures of the seven group members.
