Bulgaria’s Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov on February 17 paid a working visit to the Republic of North Macedonia at the invitation of his counterpart Naser Nuredini. The two discussed waste management controls.
The talks focused on coordination between the two countries’ institutions responsible for overseeing waste management activities. The two agreed not to allow the transboundary movement of RDF waste for incineration for the purpose of energy production.
Cooperation will continue for deepening regional dialogue in the Western Balkans on environmental issues, including within the framework of the Berlin Process, co-chaired by the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia this year.
