The European Commission has approved the provision of nearly 20 million BGN for dealing with th damages after the cargo train blast in the North-East Bulgarian village of Hitrino, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture Dessislava Taneva told journalists on 13th of December.
She explained that the amount will be provided as a result of the work of a working group set up at the initiative of EU commissioner Kristalina Georgieva. Nearly 20 million BGN will be allocated as quickly as possible to the municipality of Hitrino for dealing with the consequences from the explosion of the derailed cargo train.
The funds will be provided under the rural development programme. The municipality has project readiness to build water and sewage, street and road network for a total of 8 million BGN. By the end of the week, I will issue an order for implementation of these projects, the minister said.
Taneva added that the local authorities in Hitrino should prepare projects for repair of the public buildings damaged by the blast and then the remaining 12 million BGN will be provided.
