Exchange of sharp remarks in Bulgaria’s Parliament after EP adopted a resolution on rule of law in the country

The resolution adopted by the European Parliament оn Bulgaria yesterday was a reason for sharp remarks, which the Bulgarian MPs exchanged through statements from the parliamentary rostrum on October 9.

"The scandalous EP resolution was adopted, albeit with amendments and highlighted the hypocrisy of our opposition. MPs of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) sent to the EP, voted for the criticism for the Constitutional Court, for pressure to adopt the Istanbul Convention, for more LGBTI rights, for illegal Gypsy slums, for the separatist demands of banned Macedonian organizations. Shame and disgrace on you, MPs from the left-wing. Democratic Bulgaria joined them in this national betrayal," said Alexander Sidi, PG of the United Patriots (minority partner in the governing coalition).

"Yesterday Europe said, pointed out who is to be blamed. Those responsible for this situation are precisely the political party GERB and the United Patriots. Europe has never allowed itself to point a finger at Bulgaria, knowing what is happening in Bulgaria. The main problem is that Bulgarian citizens do not trust their institutions, Bulgarian citizens do not trust this government, Bulgarian citizens do not trust this Parliament. The only remedy is the immediate resignation of the Parliament and the government," said Dragomir Stoynev of the opposition BSP for Bulgaria.
