As of Monday, January 27, Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate announces an influenza epidemic in the city of Sofia.
From Monday 27 January to 4 February, inclusive, due to the rise of flu incidence, all 273 schools in Sofia will suspend classes. Students will be back to school on February 6, since February 5 is declared a non-school day due to the end of the first school term.
Flu epidemic was declared in the district of Veliko Turnovo as of today, January 24.
All schools in Montana, 21 in Plovdiv and 15 in Kyustendil have also cancelled classes.
The rise of flu cases shut down schools in Blagoevgrad, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Silsitra, Vidin and Bourgas.
Hospitals close to visitors due to the flu outbreak. Planned surgical operations, scheduled and non-urgent medical consultations for children and women have been suspended.
