Foreign nationals tried to interfere with a police check at Kapitan Andreevo check point (Bulgaria’s border with Turkey). They resisted the attempt of border police officers to detain them.
The incident occurred at about 23:00 on 23rd of August when a van with a man, three women and two children arrived at the border, entering Bulgaria.
All passengers are relatives, some of them are German citizens of Turkish origin and the rest are Turkish citizens with residence cards in Germany.
After the passport control, Border police officers requested to conduct the compulsory physical check of the van for hidden persons. The passengers refused to get off the vehicle and the driver (26 year old lady) set off.
The vehicle was stopped but the passengers again did not comply with the orders of the police. When the police tried to detain them, they resisted. The driver hit one of the police officers in the face and one of the other passengers hit another police officer in the leg. Later, it was found that the police officer’s leg was broken.
Thorough customs check was carried out on the vehicle and no hidden persons were found. The adult passengers were detained and the juvenile ones were accommodated in specialized premises.
Prosecutor’s office was informed about the case. Investigation was initiated.
