Shortly before 10 a.m. on July 15, Bulgaria's former PM and leader of GERB party, Boyko Borissov, came to the General Directorate of the National Police, accompanied by his lawyer, Menko Menkov.

Borissov was greeted by more than 200 GERB supporters protesting in his defence, as well as supporters of Stanislav Nedkov-Staki, who has long organized protests against President Rumen Radev.

The protesters chanted "We want Boyko" and "Down with Rashkov" (referring to Boyko Rashkov, the caretaker Minister of Interior).

"I was giving information on 3 signals, all of them for someone who heard something, that someone said something, in the period from 2009 to 2012." This is what Boyko Borissov said after leaving the General Directorate of the National Police after the interview.

The leader of GERB did not want to say what the signals were about, he only answered succinctly: "for a threat that I was going to eat someone".

From the words of Boyko Borissov it is clear that he was summoned in a case from 2009, for which we know that an anonymous witness told the current caretaker Minister of interior, that Boyko Borissov saved a minister from his previous cabinet by threatening this anonymous witness with the so-called "cannibal case".

"The Central Election Commission, in its desire to humiliate me, initially did not respect my request to not take a seat as an MP, yesterday. However, if I was an MP, they could not have called me here, for an interview, so in the middle of the night it suddenly occured to Central Election Commission members that I could not be called for questioning by thye police if I was an MP and so they approved my request not be an MP," Boyko Borissov added.

According to the protesters, everything that is currently being done in the country is tantamount to a dictatorship.

"It is absurd to call the former Prime Minister for such questioning - this is abnormal in a member state of the European Union, if this is how political battles are resolved, we are turning into Belarus and Rumen Radev can be called the Bulgarian Lukashenko," added Stanislav Nedkov-Staki.

A Belarusian journalist currently working for Al Jazeera TV attacked media and protesters with the words "Why are you defending a dictator?" And the media asked "Why are they filming a man who threatens journalists with death?".

Al Jazeera journalists were inside the National Police Directorate, the recordings on their cameras were seen and their personal ID documents were taken - it is not yet clear what the reason is.

GERB leader, Boyko Borissov, appeared for questioning at the National Police after it became clear two days ago he had received a summons from caretaker Minister of interior, Boyko Rashkov.
