The future of the European industrial policy is the topic of the meeting of the “Industry” section, held in Sofia on 1st of February. Representatives of the ministers of the economy of the 28 EU member states got together for the informal meeting of the ministers responsible for competitiveness.
The first day of the council is dedicated to industry. The attendees will include ministers and representatives of all member-states of the European Union, as well as Switzerland and Norway, as well as the business. The meeting for the “Industry” section will be presided over by Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy, Emil Karanikolov. The European Commission will be represented by Ms. Elżbieta Bieńkowskа, Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs.
Emil Karanikolov, Minister of the Economy, said that today’s meeting will be a political discussion on the topic of long-term industrial strategy. I look forward to constructive talks, a good dialogue and to highlight the main priorities of this strategy. We will discuss the aspects of digitisation and how to make the best use of the fourth industrial revolution.
Elizabeta Biankovska, EU Internal Market Commissioner: thanked the Bulgarian Presidency very much for continuing the discussion on the industrial strategy because industry is an important sector for the whole of Europe.
