All Bulgarian pensioners will receive a supplement of BGN 50 to their pensions for September. This was confirmed at August 19 weekly government meeting. The money will be transferred to the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) accounts today.
After receiving BGN 50 in addition to the pensions for August, 2,100,000 pensioners will now receive the same amount for September. The funds were provided at the expense of restructuring the expenditures of the central budget for 2020.
"This is a total of BGN 106 million for absolutely all pensioners," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Supplements to the pensions are also planned for October. Although the situation in the world is not easy due to the coronavirus pandemic, the government continues to support the most vulnerable Bulgarian citizens, the PM said.
He stressed that infrastructure projects also remain a priority. Today, the government allocated BGN 379 million for the modernization of 69 km of the Vidin-Botevgrad road.
Additional BGN 4 million is allocated to the Municipality of Sandanski for road repairs in the area of Zlatolist in order to support the development of tourism.
In his Facebook account, Borissov commented that at a time when world economies are recording a record downturn, the Bulgarian government is supporting industry, citizens, is increasing incomes and builds across the country. And all this - without a loan, Borisov wrote.
The Prime Minister added that while the COVID-19 pandemic is growing worldwide, Bulgaria is one of the few countries that manages it properly. He cited data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, according to which Bulgaria had a 32.8% decline in the incidence of new COVID-19 cases compared to the past two weeks.
