grain growers predict bankruptcies imports ukraine resume

Grain growers predict bankruptcies if the ban on imports from Ukraine is lifted. The government has announced support for such a decision, which is to be discussed in the Parliament.

MPs lift ban on Ukrainian grain imports (update)

This year the yield is very low and all producers are selling goods below their cost price, Milen Koev, chairman of the regional farmers' union Danube Grain, told BNT on September 14. The harvest is still in the middle, but things are not looking good.

"One of the big advantages of the ban is that we have been able to more calmly sell the production and work for the next one, which we are now harvesting," Koev said.

Agriculture Minister Vatev: EC has the final say on lifting ban on Ukrainian grain imports

According to him, the industry is uniting and most of the agricultural workers are ready to protest, as the problem is not only in grain, but also in honey and milk powder. They have also received support from the transport industry and related sectors.

If the ban is lifted, we will get déjà vu - it will be difficult to sell the grain, let alone the prices. I have contacted several traders in the last week, none of them could give me a price to sell my crop. We are not going out to protest about subsidies, that needs further comment. It may be that we will not have a market for grain for more than a year, as the other countries of the five (in which the EU ban on on Ukrainian grain imports applied ( Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia) plan to impose the ban unilaterally," said Milen Koev.
