The Head of Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission, Stefka Stoeva, on August 27 announced to the members of the commission that she was resigning for personal reasons.
Her resignation will be submitted to the National Assembly to be voted on next week.
Earlier, however, Stoeva objected to a proposed amendment to the Electoral Code, according to which the full responsibility for the acquisition of voting machines is transferred entirely to the Central Election Commision.
Stoeva continues to believe that the purchase of voting machines should be done by the state.
