The Head of the National Service for Protection, general Angel Antonov, has resigned. The information was confirmed at the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers on 31st of January.
The voting of the resignation was added as an additional item of the agenda of the meeting.
According to the next step from the procedure, the Council of Ministers should file the proposal to the Presidency for release of general Antonov from the post and then the President should issue a decree.
Unconfirmed reports say that Antonov will become Bulgaria's consul in St. Petersburg.
Two weeks ago, a prosecution was launched against him for abuses in the National Service for Protection.
