The head of the Road Administration in Pernik, Peter Basmadzhiev, was dismissed after being caught drink-driving.
In a routine check in the early hours of December 15, traffic police found that he was sitting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. Basmadzhiev is a municipal councilor. He took office as head of the Road Administration in Pernik on October 1.
According to BNT sources, the breathalyzer test showed blood-alcohol level of 1.6 promilles, which more than three times the legal limit (0.5 promilles). For such cases, the law provides for withdrawal of driving license and 1 to 3 years of imprisonment.
